WaterFlow Privacy Policy
TL;DR
WaterFlow does not collect, store on a server, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything stays on your computer, inside Chrome. There are no accounts, no analytics, no third-party services, and no network requests of any kind.
What WaterFlow stores
All of the following are stored only in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device:
- Your bottle choice (Sport, Shaker, Tumbler, Modern)
- Your daily hydration goal (in millilitres)
- Reminder cadence (water every N minutes, stretch every N minutes)
- Your active hours (start and end time)
- "What counts" toggles (whether coffee and soda contribute toward your goal)
- The drinks you log today (timestamp, liquid type, volume)
- Derived state used to render the popup (e.g. fill percentage, mood)
- The timestamp of the last reminder and the last snooze (so cadence works)
chrome.storage.local is local to your device and is not synced anywhere by WaterFlow. (Chrome itself may sync a small set of extension settings if you have Chrome Sync turned on; that is a Chrome feature, not a WaterFlow feature.)
What WaterFlow does not collect or transmit
- No personally identifying information (no name, email, account, device ID)
- No browsing history, no URLs, no tabs you visit, no page content
- No analytics, telemetry, error reports, or crash reports
- No advertising identifiers, no cookies, no tracking pixels
- No third-party SDKs, no remote scripts, no remote fonts
- No outbound network requests of any kind — the extension is fully offline
WaterFlow has no remote server. There is nowhere for your data to go.
Permissions and why each one exists
- storage — to save your settings and today's drinks on your device.
- alarms — to schedule recurring water and stretch reminders.
- notifications — to show a Chrome notification when it's time for a sip or a stretch break.
- idle — to detect when you have stepped away so reminders pause instead of piling up.
WaterFlow does not declare any host permissions (no host_permissions, no <all_urls>, no content_scripts, no web_accessible_resources exposed to any web page). The extension cannot — and does not — read or modify the content of any web page you visit.
Data sharing
None. WaterFlow does not share, sell, or transmit any data with anyone, including the developer.
Deleting your data
- Clear today's intake without uninstalling: open the popup and wait for the 03:00 local rollover, which resets the day.
- Delete everything: uninstall the extension from
chrome://extensions. Chrome automatically clears allchrome.storage.localdata tied to the extension at uninstall.
Children
WaterFlow is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If material changes are ever made, the "Last updated" date above will change and the new version will be published at the same URL.
